Pretend It's A Lovesong

I'm lookin' for direction
not that impossible perfection
that,
everyone's told to achieve.

I'm sick of asking questions
that are only answered by deceptions
in which,
we are supposed to believe.

I need a reason
to spread my wings and fly

I don't wanna take off
and then wonder why

I'm searching for salvation
not that easily found damnation
and,
not just another easy way out

I'm living in his creation
not all the world's temptation
yeah,
it's just not what life's all about

I'd like to know when
all the good things became overrated

I can't quite get why
inner beauty has been outdated

I'm reaching out in desperation
there's gotta be more motivation
so,
I can finally line the pieces up

I don't need a revelation
just some simple clarification
to,
at least halfway fill my cup

I know there's more to life then this
then to live, let die, and to sin

All everyone wants is to stand out
and yet all they do is try to fit in

I can guarantee you, but only one thing is guaranteeable
I can agree with you, but not everything's agreeable

We can continue the discrimination
or we can stop the dilapidation
and if you need some more communication
speak to the Lord of every single nation

because of all of this invalidation
we seem to have missed our elevation
and if you still need an explanaion
answer to your own hearts accusation

I'm tired of who we are coming from who we're expected to be
I'm sick of the fact that our true selves are something we'd rather not let people see

And if you ask me...
I would much rather
have the God who was, is, and always will be
so I always will be
eternally, wonderfully, and beautifully
free
